What information do I need to schedule an appointment?

Full name, date of birth, contact telephone number, email, OHIP number (if you have).

How is the recovery after a varicose vein treatment?

Most treatments are done in the doctor's office. It's a simple procedure and as a general rule, patients return to their daily activities immediately or one to two days after the procedure.

What is the varicose vein surgery recovery time?

Recovery from varicose vein surgery typically involves a few days of initial discomfort, swelling, and bruising.

 

Patients are advised to rest and elevate their legs, gradually resuming light activities within the first week while avoiding strenuous exercises and heavy lifting.

 

Over the next two to four weeks, swelling should diminish, and patients can increase their activity levels.

What is the cost of the consultation?

If you have OHIP, the cost of the consultation is covered, if not, it has a price of $150.

How do I get a diagnosis?

A physical evaluation is performed by the doctor and an ultrasound may be required.

What type of treatment should I request? Do I receive treatment in the first appointment?

We recommend scheduling an evaluation appointment. After the assessment, Dr. Figueroa will be able to suggest the most suitable treatment for your situation.

 

The cost and treatment plan are based on the diagnosis, which requires a physical examination and an ultrasound to assess vein health.

 

The ultrasound can be requested beforehand, and if you have OHIP coverage, it will be covered, just like the first evaluation visit. 

When can I schedule a first appointment?

At the moment we schedule new appointments on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. Email us for more information regarding the first appointment.

Do I need to be referred by my family doctor?

it is not necessary for varicose and spider veins. For other conditions, it is necesary.

Should I wear compression stockings before or after varicose vein treatment?

The use of compression stockings might be recommended before and after the procedure, depending on medical evaluation.

 

Before the treatment, they might be advised to prepare the veins, particularly in severe cases or before invasive procedures.

 

After the treatment, compression stockings are common to reduce swelling, improve circulation, and support recovery.

 

It's always important to follow the doctor's precise instructions regarding the type and duration of compression stocking use based on individual needs.
