VARICOSE AND SPIDER VEIN TREATMENTS

Dr. Luis Figueroa offers a variety of services to treat patients who suffer from varicose veins, spider veins, and venous insufficiency. These conditions are common and afflict adults of all ages.

An estimated 3.7 million Canadians have varicose veins, with women twice as likely as men to develop varicosities.

Luis is a vein specialist who performs minimally invasive procedures such as sclerotherapy, ablation (radiofrequency or laser), and VenaSeal (the closure system).

PERIPHERAL ARTERIAL DISEASE (PAD)

Healthy Peripheral Arteries carry blood from the heart to the arms and legs, providing oxygen, glucose, and nutrients. Peripheral Arterial Disease (PAD) occurs as a result of plaque obstruction, usually fat and cholesterol, which limits the blood flow to your legs.

The diagnosis of Peripheral Arterial Disease can be confirmed by a simple and non-invasive ultrasound.

Dr. Luis Figueroa performs all available procedures to treat PAD.

ABDOMINAL AORTIC ANEURYSM (AAA)

The aorta is the largest blood vessel that carries blood from the heart to the head, chest, limbs, abdomen, and pelvis.

An Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm (AAA) occurs when the aorta is weakened due to a swell or bulge.

AAA is often treatable, but a rupture could be life-threatening.

Most aneurysms have no symptoms unless they rupture.

CAROTID ARTERY DISEASE

The Carotid Arteries are major blood vessels located in the neck. They supply blood to the brain, neck, and face.

Carotid Artery Disease refers to a narrowing of the carotid arteries, usually caused by the buildup of plaque (often fatty substances).

It leads to a shortage of blood flow to the brain and may lead to a stroke.

DIABETIC FOOT AND ULCERS

Currently, 1 out of 3 Canadians is living with diabetes or pre-diabetes.

Diabetes is the cause of several complications, such as foot problems.

Uncontrolled diabetes can cause:

- Diabetic Neuropathy, damaging the nerves from your legs.

- Peripheral Vascular Disease, affecting your blood flow.

Diabetes can lead to ulcers, gangrenes, and limb amputations.

PERFORATOR VEINS INCOMPETENCE

Perforator Vein Incompetence (PVI) occurs when perforator veins turn into a connection between the two networks of veins in the legs.

They connect the Superficial Venous System and The Deep Venous System.

As a result, they become incompetent and may cause edemas, skin ulcers, dermatitis, or skin discoloration.

Moreover, they are the most common cause of recurrent varicose veins after treatment.
