Radiofrequency Ablation

At Ontario Vascular, we offer endovenous radiofrequency ablation (RFA) as a safe, effective, and minimally invasive treatment for varicose veins. This modern procedure uses controlled heat to close damaged veins from the inside, improving blood flow and relieving symptoms, without traditional surgery.

What Is Radiofrequency Ablation?

Radiofrequency ablation is an outpatient procedure where a small catheter delivers radiofrequency energy (heat) to the inside of a diseased vein. The heat causes the vein walls to collapse and seal shut. Once the vein is closed, blood is naturally rerouted to healthy veins nearby.

RFA is a well-established, non-surgical alternative with benefits such as:

  • Fast procedure (30–60 minutes)

  • Local anesthesia only

  • Proven functional and aesthetic results

  • Quick return to normal activity

Who Is a Candidate for Radiofrequency Ablation?

This treatment is ideal for patients with:

  • Visible or painful varicose veins

  • Leg heaviness, aching, or burning

  • Chronic swelling or skin discoloration

  • Poor circulation due to venous insufficiency

  • Symptoms confirmed by diagnostic ultrasound

After a full vascular assessment, we’ll determine whether RFA is the right option for your condition.
